Scout Motors, an emerging automotive manufacturer revitalizing a legacy American brand, will locate its headquarters in Mecklenburg County, employing 1,200 workers by 2030. This represents a capital investment of nearly $207 million.

The deadline for homeowners to apply for economic assistance grant funding through the Helping Out Mecklenburg homeowners with Economic Support program (HOMES) is quickly approaching.  

Following voters’ approval of the referendum to fund transportation projects, Mecklenburg County is developing a plan to help small businesses benefit from public improvement project opportunities, and avoid gentrification and displacement.

Every January, volunteers span out across Charlotte-Mecklenburg streets, parking lots, encampments, and other locations to survey people who are living without shelter and connect them to resources.

Mecklenburg County government is prepared to devote $740,000 to support food resources that can assist residents who rely on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. SNAP benefits for November are currently suspended due to the federal government shutdown.

Mecklenburg County is warning residents of a jury service scam making the rounds. The Trial Court Administrator’s Office (TCA) at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse has received multiple reports a day of residents receiving suspicious calls, texts, or emails for failure to appear and threats of large fines or a warrant for arrest.

The Mecklenburg County Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Program has been awarded Platinum Level Certification through CIT International – the highest level of program certification.  

 After a competitive search, Pacific Life Insurance Co. has selected Mecklenburg County for its new East Coast hub, creating 301 new jobs over the next five years.
